A Father’s Day prayer

15 Jun

I think it’s only fitting that I break this blog silence (brought on by ridiculous morning sickness which I shall address at a later time) to talk about my husband, Nick.

Today is Fathers Day. And let me tell you, our children have the greatest father. I pray that if the girls (and our unborn baby) take after any parent, it be Nick. The amount of character qualities they can learn from him is astounding. I myself am always learning things from him.

*He’s the hardest worker I know. I pray they learn to work hard.
*He’s the biggest dreamer. I pray they learn how to have dreams about the future. Many of them!
*He’s the most personable. I pray they learn how to interact positively with people around them.
*He’s thoughtful. I pray they learn how to be caring and thoughtful of others.
*He’s the most hospitable. I pray they learn to love hosting in our home and making people feel loved and wanted.
*He’s quick to apologize. I pray they learn how to be humble and ask forgiveness.
*He’s loving toward me; his wife and their mother. I pray they learn how to care for and love me and the same toward their future spouse.
*He’s the biggest servant. I pray they learn how to serve and give of themselves to others.
*He’s in love with Jesus. I pray they will desire Jesus’s love and give it in return.
*He’s attentive to detail. I pray they learn to see the small things.
*He’s clean and orderly. I pray they learn to take care of themselves and their belongings well.
*He’s creative. I pray they learn to have big, creative imaginations.
*He loves to read and learn by reading. I pray they will see how important reading is and enjoy it to its full extent.
*He’s self-sacrificing. I pray they learn to put others first.
*He’s resourceful. I pray they learn how to manage money and their time.
*He’s so passionate. I pray they learn to have a zest for life and opinions about things that truly matter to them.

Solace and Belle, you have a servant as a Papa. Everything he does is for your good. He loves you fiercely, protectively, and tenderly. You’re his favorite. Someday you’ll understand all he does for you and why.

We are so thankful for you, Nick. Thank you for being such a great Papa to our girls. And for teaching me how to be a better parent and person. We love you. Happy Father’s Day.
